What Is an SEL Coach?
SEL stands for Social Emotional Learning — the skills student-athletes use to understand themselves, manage emotions, and make thoughtful choices in real-life situations.
As an SEL Hoops Coach, I focus on the inner side of development. Through intentional conversation, observation, and movement, I help student-athletes become more aware of what’s happening internally and how it shows up in their actions — on the court, in the classroom, and at home.
SEL coaching supports student-athletes in developing:
Emotional awareness
Self-regulation and calming strategies
Confidence after mistakes
Focus and decision-making
Healthy responses to pressure
This work is not therapy. I am not a licensed therapist, and I do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. Instead, I coach practical life skills through basketball, movement, and guided conversation — tools student-athletes can use immediately and carry with them beyond the game.
At The Inner 180, your child is not defined by labels, behavior, or struggles. They are supported as a whole person. The goal is simple but powerful: to help student-athletes learn how to pause, reset, and respond with confidence, awareness, and self-trust.
If you’re looking for a coach who understands the emotional demands of youth sports and leads with intention, empathy, and real-world tools — you’re in the right place.
